Can anyone point an Internet marketing newbie in the right direction?

I am a total internet marketing newbie and I feel extremely overwhelmed. I quit my job after I had my son 5 months ago and my husband just got his hours cut back at work, so we need the extra money. I have read in some forums that affiliate marketing can be a great work at home job that I can do part-time and make good money. So, can someone help this newbie out?

I am also a work at home mom, but I have to tell you that affiliate marketing is just not a job. A telemarketer is a job. Internet marketing is a business and you must work hard at your business to make it successful. A lot of people have the misconception that they can, through up a website, add some affiliate links to it and make some good income.

On the contrary, you have to work hard at promoting your site and getting traffic and sales. This is why it is called marketing. You have to market it and market it some more. I don’t want you to get the wrong idea about affiliate marketing and get discouraged after a month or two by not seeing any income come in (which will most likely happen).

When I first starting affiliate marketing from home 3 years ago, I was putting in about 9-10 hour days to get my sites started, do my research, and market my sites to death. I only started to see regular traffic and money come in after about 3-4 months and even then it was only a couple hundred dollars and I had about 5 sites up.

But, after about a year, I was making over $4500 a month and I was only working about 20 hours a week. In the beginning, you really have to work and then as you get your sites more established, you can set things to autopilot and work much less. Now I have 2 kids and make almost 6 figures a year and work about 20-25 hours a week when my kids are sleeping.

I have about 60 niche websites and I am in the process of making 5 more. The sites that are the oldest are the ones that make the most money, with a few exceptions. You will have sites that no matter what you do may just not see conversions or make you the money that you want no matter how much you put into them. On the other hand, you may have sites that do a lot better than you ever thought they would and you only put in a minimal amount of time on them.

For an Internet marketing newbie like yourself, I recommend that you check out www.mattbacak.com. Even though I have been doing this for 3 years I still subscribe to his Internet Marketing Dirt newsletter and learn new things from it. The Internet is always changing and you must adapt your strategies if you want to really succeed. I wish you all the luck with your endeavor and don’t give up!

What is your vote for the best consumer goods product of 2007 so far?

Are there any new products (launched this year) that you use and can’t live without? Have heard about a really cool product? This includes food, beverage, household, electronics, beauty, apparel etc.
-I’m doing a report and would love to hear your thoughts, ideas, & feedback!

Well…the hype currently revolves around Apple’s new i-Phone. I’m sure it will be a big hit just like the i-Pods.
New products this yer..check it out here:

Where can I find the best Internet marketing tips?

I am potentially trying to make a business out of internet marketing and I am looking for all the help I can get. Right now, I am in pre-business mode and doing all the research I can so I need any suggestions for places to look for Internet marketing tips from people who actually know what they are talking about and are easy to learn from.

I am going to recommend that you check out Matt Bacak. You can Google his name or check out his blog at www.mattbacak.com. The guy is an Internet marketing expert but he keeps it real and explains things that people can understand.

He’s been doing this for several years and knows what he is talking about. I am actually a member of his IM Gold membership and I learn so much every day from it. I have followed a couple other so-called IM "gurus" and they provide you with fluff and don’t give you the facts like Matt does. I wish you the best on your new business adventure!

Where to learn the Internet marketing basics from?

I really want to make some extra money working from home and am interested in learning Internet marketing. I currently stay at home with my two little kids but would be able to devote about 25 hours a week to Internet marketing. It’s just that I don’t know where to start. Where do I find some great resources that help me with the internet marketing basics as all the websites I have come across are not for absolute beginners like me?

When I first got into Internet marketing, I felt the same way that you do. I felt completely overwhelmed until I came across a website by Matt Bacak. He broke down what I should be doing and how to get started with the Internet marketing basics instead of assuming I knew how to find keywords or how to set up a website.

I have now been working from home doing marketing since my son was born about 10 months ago. Like you, I only have time for part-time, around 20 or so hours a week (sometimes less, sometimes more), but I have been able to make at least $1000 a month for the past 4 months just by following the advice I got on www.mattbacak.com.

This month looks like I will actually surpass $1,000 as I got lucky with some great sales a couple of days ago. I have to say, once you learn the basics and find your niche, it is amazing at how successful you can be.

How do I get help launching and marketing a new product ?

I want to market a new energy - weight loss formula . I have been selling other similar products for 9 years .
I know most of the customers are women between 25-45 and look for energy and appetite suppression more than actual weight loss . (Sustain from gaining weight)

The problem is I am at the mercy of my distributors and I need a product of my own .

I contacted a manufacturer and we are
developing a great new formula , but how do I get the
name brand recognition ?

I want to focus on internet , but we are open to radio or other types of marketing.

Approach an integrated marketing agency like the one I work at. They will build your brand and product lines from scratch as long as you have funds to pay for the service of course.

The intergrated approach means you can get brand, creative, design, integration and publicity all within the one company which makes it much easier and more cost effective than using multiple agencies to roll out a national launch. Using a reputable firm safeguards your success as you only get one chance to do it right when you’re in start up mode.
